Child Disability Benefit & Registered Disability Savings Plan

This benefit is for families who care for a child under the age of 18 with severe and prolonged impairment in physical or mental functions. The maximum annual Child Disability Benefit is $2650. This benefit provides up to $220.83 per month for each eligible child.

Our government has introduced the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) to help families save for the future. Contributions to a RDSP are not tax deductible and can be made until the end of the year in which the beneficiary turns 59. Contributions that are withdrawn are not included in the income for the beneficiary when they are paid out of an RDSP. Any amount can be contributed to the RDSP each year, up to the lifetime contribution limit of $200,000. With written permission from the RDSP holder, anyone may contribute to the RDSP.
